After the Crypotpocaplyse or Cryptogeddon or whatever you call it, it's worth discussing the viability of cryptocurrencies; be it Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dogecoin or whatever altcoin you prefer.
The evidence is in: Cryptocurrencies don't make for good currencies. They are waaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too volatile. That being said, blockchain is a great technology with many exciting applications. And cryptocurrencies have made for good investments. Just be careful with them because they have no inherent value. And for those crypto enthusiasts out there who will counter that "the dollar has no inherent value either," OK sure. But it does have the US government and all the violence it can unleash behind it. So there's that... The Huffington Post has a truly bewildering article up that encapsulates just how insane the culture wars have gotten. The same story has generated some outrage on the right, but in this piece, the author celebrates that "Transgender Swimmer Lia Thomas Is Destroying Records At Penn And Aiming To Make History." The byline quotes Lia Thomas that "Being trans has not affected my ability to do this sport and being able to continue is very rewarding." You think? It's truly amazing that decades ago feminists were fighting to pass Title IX to ensure women had equal access to play sports in schools and colleges. Indeed, they went so far as to demand that the number of spots available for student athletes was proportional to the number of women at that school. (Weirdly, they never bothered to demand there be an equal number of men and women at any given college to begin with, a number that has fallen to two men for every three women.) Feminists went over-the-top with their demands assuming men and women had an equal interest in sports. This lead to a significant reduction in male sports and almost the disappearance of male wrestling as schools had to cut male sports to be in compliance. (Of course, football and basketball were safe.) Now those same activists seem hellbent on abolishing female sports altogether. This seven paragraph article mimics the insanity of much of what I've seen on the "woke left" including constant demands for censorship and even "transitioning" children. But the demands regarding biological males competing in female sports seem next level to me. I mean, just read this, A transgender swimmer on the University of Pennsylvania women’s team continued to smash records in the pool over the weekend. The whole thing is just completely oblivious to the fact that, yeah, you would expect a biological male to do better in sports than a biological female.
Men are bigger and taller than women. Men have thicker tendons and bones. Men have bigger hearts that pump more blood. One study found that "the gender related distribution of hand-grip strength: 90% of females produced less force than 95% of males." A comparison between men's and women's individual records finds that most women's all time records are that of 14 or 15 year old boys. Remember, a 15-year old boys team beat the US women's soccer team 5-2! It's simply absurd to have biological men competing against biological women, even if they take hormone blockers to reduce their testosterone. It's also amazing watching social justice's various victim groups get pitted against each other and see which one comes out the winner. And finally, it's amazing that of all things in the world you would actually expect conservatives to be able to stop, this would be it. And they still couldn't do it. What an absolute farce.
The Fed has made the money printer go brrr like there's tomorrow for over a year now. And without a question, inflation is here and getting worse. But hyperinflation is much, much more than just high inflation, it's a currency death spiral that usually happens at the end of a regime.
The United States is fading as a world power, but it's still the biggest and powerful economy in the world. The dollar is the reserve currency for a reason and the Feds haven't printed nearly enough money to cause it to implode. Instead, we're going to see high inflation with low growth: Stagflation. Get out the disco music, shag carpet and plaid pants because we're returning to the 70s folks. |
