The Impeachment Circus: Part II

11/21/2019

Trump keeps saying dumb things and doing things that piss me off (like bombing Syria, helping Saudi Arabia launch its war on Yemen, twiddling his thumbs on tech censorship, locking up Assange, saber rattling at Iran, letting the deficit balloon, etc.) and yet the Democrats just can't stop making me want to defend him as this impeachment circus continues.

Apparently the whistleblower is probably Eric Ciaramella who is a registered Democrat and worked for Joe Biden and the DNC. NeoMcCarthyite* Adam Schiff appears to have coached Alexander Vindman and the other witnesses were basedon pretty much just hearsay. And Vindman also said Ukraine offered him their Defense Minister position. Wait, what?

The Ukrainian President denied it.  The transcript shows no quid pro quo. The Ukranian government was unaware of the holdup and the assistance started again in September with no renewed investigation of Biden. Kurt Volker's and Tim Morrison's testimony vindicated Trump (on this at least) and from what I can tell, Sondland's testimony appeared muddled and punctuated by this:

Q: No one on this planet told you that @POTUS was tying aid to investigations, yes or no?

A: Yes. pic.twitter.com/EFUgPDU8x2

I don't know folks, it just really looks like this is Russiagate nonsense 2.0. Yawn...

Although I should note, Biden looks guilty as sin to me. He admits to threatening to withhold aid to get a prosecutor fired who just happened to be investigating the company his son was being paid $50,000/month to sit on the board despite no energy experience. Because the prosecutor was corrupt? Really? Did he do this even one other time with another foreign official? This seems pretty blatant to me.

In a similar vein, The Clinton Foundation seems to be quickly dying. It brought in only $30.7 million in 2018, the lowest since 2002 and only 12 percent of the $249 million raised in 2009 when Clinton became Secretary of State. I'm sure there's also nothing to see here either...

*I don't like the term NeoMcCarthyism since you know, Joseph McCarthy has mostly been mostly vindicated. Maybe entirely so. But it seems more apt than anything.
