The January 6th Memorial Farce

So a bunch of boomers meandered through the capital building taking selfies for a few hours a year ago on January 6th. A date that, had it not been for the deaths, would have lived in hilarity. Remember, these terrorists make sure to stay within the velvet ropes.

These "insurrectionists" (who left on their own after the coup leader told them to leave while making no attempt to seize the government or hold the capital building and with no real plan to speak of) were clearly on the precipice of taking over 'merica and imposing a megafascist Nazi regime. I mean, watch Qanon Shaman make his move to destroy muh democracy if you can bear to stomach the horror:

In response to whatever the Hell that was, vice president Kamala Harris gave us this:
Here's the money quote:
Dates that occupy not only a place on our calendars, but a place in our collective memory: December 7, 1941, September 11, 2001, and January 6, 2021,
Just for those keeping score, here are the kill counts for the following three events. (Note I said kill counts, so the Japanese pilots don't count for Pearl Harbor nor do the hijackers for 9/11 or rioters for January 6th.)

- Pearl Harbor: 2403
- 9/11: 2977
- January 6th: 0

Unfortunately, Harris is not alone in this delusion. President Biden likened January 6th to the Civil War. The liberal press has been talking about almost nothing else other than Covid and January 6th since, well, January 6th, 2021. For the one year anniversary of this insurrectionary attack on our precious democracy, the Democrats held this utterly embarrassing candlelight vigil:

The media was no better. The Rolling Stone, for its part, took a break from lying about rapes on campus and Ivermectin victims overburdening hospitals to complain that "‘Back-The-Blue’ Republicans Bail on Moment of Silence for Fallen Capitol Police Officers."

Of course, no capital police officers were killed on January 6th.  The New York Times lied, errr, made a mistake regarding Brian Sicknick. Of the other three officers who were honored, two committed suicide and officer Billy Evans was killed by black nationalist Noah Green on April 2nd, 2021. So yeah, it would seem this little moment of silence was just a wee bit cynical.

And of course, this has been going on for over a year now. Remember Alexandria Ocasio Cortez accused Ted Cruz of trying to "have her killed." AOC was, of course, in a different building a block away.

In no way was January 6th a coup or that wonderfully nebulous term, "insurrection." It was just a riot on the capital. Which is bad, because rioting is bad.

Four people died, all Trump supporters. Five died if you include Sicknick who had a stroke later that night. Of those, the only one who was killed was Ashley Babbit; who was unarmed and shot from over five feet away while crawling through a window with additional cops both behind and in front of the officer who shot her. Remember when police brutality used to matter?

Of course, if January 6th was just a riot, well, who cares? Leftists had been doing that all the previous Summer, including in DC and around the White House. Real Clear Investigations put together a great breakdown , which also include d the 2017 riot by leftists during Trump's inauguration.

Riots are bad and the deaths and injuries are tragic. The rioters who committed crimes deserved to be punished for those crimes. But January 6th was little more than a farce. Not as big a farce as the media's and Democrats' reaction to it has been, of course, but a farce nonetheless.

And that is even if the FBI had nothing to do with the riot, which is something that two pieces by Revolver (here and here) cast a lot of doubt on (as well as a cursory knowledge of the history of the FBI).

But this hysteria serves a purpose. Not only does it gin up ratings for struggling post-Trump media conglomerates, but it also allows the feds to pursue what some have called "War on Terror 2.0." Indeed, the surveillance state and police state keep growing and everything I hear about how the January 6th prisoners (none of whom have been charged with "insurrection") are being treated is just awful.

So the madness continues. All I can say is that hopefully the blatantly manipulative and over-the-top nature of these lies wakes more people up to the dishonesty of the corporate media and national security state. We shall see.
